March 24th, 2016

Feature image

We know England isn’t exactly renowned for its hot, sunny days, but here in Cornwall there’s a multitude of things to do when the weather isn’t so great. Here are some great spots nearby to keep you busy, that don’t rely on sunshine and warm weather to enjoy yourself. Shopping Although small, don’t underestimate what Fowey has to offer, with numerous interesting shops and galleries to browse that line the narrow road winding it’s way through the town. Start from […]

In 2006, David and I were living in Manchester, but visiting […]

November 20th, 2015

Brandon

Having grown up down the road in Par – coincidently on the very same street as Ryan Kellow, our head chef, Brandon Tregidgo is no stranger to the Fowey area. We put a few quick questions to our assistant assistant hotel manager and here’s what he said. When did you join the team at the Old Quay House? I joined the Old Quay House as a waiter in March 2015. I was later made the restaurant supervisor and it’s just developed from […]

Summer with Seasalt

May 29th, 2015

Back in the autumn, Seasalt Cornwall came to the hotel to shoot some of their summer collection at The Old Quay House. We were lucky to have a dry, sunny day, so the photography could take place outside overlooking the estuary. We’re excited to be able to show you the results of the shoot. The new catalogue looks great, and is packed full of new designs, styles, and prints for the summer. Those who know Fowey may be able to spot some of the locations […]

Cornish-sunset-1

The team at The Old Quay House are loving the new series of Poldark, and like many other fans, are being reminded how beautiful Cornwall is. We have been chatting to a friend of the hotel, Katy Austin, who has been an extra for the series. She has been kind enough to answer a few of our questions about what was involved.
