Introducing the newest member of our team

March 12th, 2014

We are delighted to introduce the newest member of our team, and our first international student from China, to the Old Quay House.

Lui Hui Fang, self named Dorothy, joins us as an intern during her studies at the prestigious Swiss Hotel Management School in Switzerland. Specialising in hospitality management, Dorothy will be working with the team here to give our guests the usual Old Quay House treatment.

Fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and French, Dorothy has a background in front of house and guest relations, and has previously worked at the JW Marriott and Marco Polo hotels in ShenZen, China.

On joining us here, Dorothy said: “My agent who was responsible for my internship suggested Cornwall. She said it is totally unique, more leisurely, more relaxing and that the local people are really friendly.

“She strongly recommended I should try it, and I did. I have never been here before.  It is a very nice place to stay, quaint and peaceful. I love it.”

Outside of work, Dorothy has been experiencing Fowey life first-hand with some trips to our local shops, restaurants, and of course, a visit to the pub. Our great Cornish weather, despite being slightly less than welcoming, has made an impression on our newest recruit: “AlI I can say is … I am waiting for a summers day,” she commented.

We are really pleased that Dorothy sees the long term opportunities our boutique hotel can offer to interns. We want to help more students forge a career in the hospitality industry, so we look forward to working with Dorothy, and hopefully, many more students in the future.
